Local Palos Verdes Football Team Gives Back

Unfortunately, there is not enough reporting in the news today when our young people choose to do something to give back to their community. Approximately 50 varsity football players and coaches from the Palos Verdes High School Sea Kings and 40 boys and girls, ages 7 to 12, from the Boys and Girls Clubs of the South Bay descended on RAT Beach in Torrance for an afternoon of fun in the sun last week This annual event, founded two years ago by coach Guy Gardner, head varsity football coach of the Sea Kings, brings together disadvantaged youths from the South Bay with the team’s varsity players and coaches.

I think that this was a wonderful thing that our local football team did and I loved to see them get some recognition for it. The entire article published in the Palos Verdes Peninsula News can be viewed at http://www.pvnews.com/articles/2011/07/21/sports/sports2.txt

Very cool.

Way to go for the football team doing such a thoughtful thing.

This is awesome! Not only for the intent of the action, but because it teaches the kids the importance of humility and social awareness. They are learning that life is much larger than them...and football. Thanks for sharing.
